It was raining last week when I wrote this and it is again today.  Best thing is that it hasn't rained between these two days.  It's been beautiful and we are really enjoying this spring weather.  The lake level is up to summer pool and just waiting for the water temp to go up.

The Blessing of the Fleet was last Saturday and approximately 40 boats were blessed.

You can get your fire extinguishers inspected on May 7 (this is the same day as the Derby Party and the day before Mother's Day) in the Dockers parking lot from 10am to noon.  First Line Fire Extinguisher will be there to inspect, repair or replace you fire extinguishers.  You can even make an appointment for them to inspect you on-board systems.

See ya'll soon.

It's been a beautiful week.  It's just starting to rain now and possibly most of the day tomorrow.  I just finished planting flowers in the pots near the gate.  I hope they are petunias.  I transplanted what came up in my pot by the boat.  Last year it had petunias in it and it looked as if the plants had reseeded themselves.  Heres hoping I didn't transplant weeds.

Eileen made it back home last week.  Says she had a good winter and is happy to be back.

Mr. Do It Yourself, Lynn Young, has injured himself again. His glass slider door collapsed as he tried to repair the track.  He has 4 stitches in his hand--even got the same ER Doc as last time. I think Pier 6 has its own version of Tim the Tool Man.

I think the pollen is beginning to slow down, but some of these boats are really yellow.

The Blessing of the Fleet is this Saturday morn. at 10am.  Let us know if you want to be included.

John, Jerry, and Marti May will be kicking off the season with live music and entertainment this Saturday night at the Commonwealth Yacht Club.  They will be joined by Colleen Keener out of Gulf Shores on bass and vocals.  It will be a fun and entertaining evening for sure.  Make your reservations now!

Clear sky and beautiful sunshine is what's happening today. It's really cold--only in the mid 50s. The Pirate's Market last Saturday was a success with treasures finding new owners all morning.  The Pier 6 raccoon still hasn't been caught.  We did catch a bird though.  The trip mechanism is very sensitive and apparently the sparrow had no idea what he was headed into.  At least he didn't have to be hauled to the LBL to be released.  Reminder--don't leave trash outside your boat.

The Corps is inspecting the marina this week.  So, if you are missing propane tanks or your grill has been moved, that is the reason.  All missing item can reclaimed at the fuel dock.

There is still time to sign up for the Blessing of the Fleet on April 23.

Have a safe trip to the boat.

April Fools Day came and went uneventfully.  But, with Emory around, every day is trickster's day.  We had a breezy chilly weekend but the sunshine made that ok.  The Hildebrands and Larry Musgrave are here this week for the Captains' class.  I know they are having fun and that we won't be seeing much of them till it's all over.  Greg Gager was here this weekend and we had to look twice to recognize him.  Congratulations on the new eating regamine and the exercise program.  The hard work is really showing.  The Simmons are still waiting for the boat to dry out, so that has given them plenty of time for all the March Madness games. The pier is slowly beginning to wake up and it's been good to see everyone.  The birds are beginning to nest in the juction boxes above the walkway.  Keep your eyes open for their little messes.  Emory also has a trap set trying to catch another raccoon.  He got into our grill drip tray and tracked his greasy feet across my rugs to say nothing of the rest of the mess he made! Raccoon footprints ARE NOT cute.  I will include a picture of the mess maker when he is caught.  I was hoping I could do that today but no luck last night.

The CYC will be printing a monthly calendar of events to be placed on each boat in the marina.  I get to be the Pier 6 distributor.  I will be slipping these pieces of paper on your boat somewhere starting this month.

The Blessing of the Fleet is coming soon-April 23 at 10am.  Brother Jack will again be officiating.  He does a wonderful job and personalizes it for each boat.  You can either line up and pass by our boat as he blesses each boat from our upper deck or he will do an in-slip blessing whether you can be here or not. You will need to e-mail me with you name, boat name and slip # and whether in-line or in-slip to be included.  There is also a sign-up slip at the club if you happen to be there and that is more convenient.

This is the last reminder of the upcoming Pirates' Flea Market this coming Saturday-10am to noon.  Come find something you can't live without.  Emory bought his dinghy motor there one year.

Have a safe trip to the boat & hoping to see all of you soon.

Waiting for the rain this pm.  Still quiet on the pier.  Mark Harris was here this week checking on his boat and getting his act together for the upcoming weekend.  The new kids on the pier (the Wojnos) are here from Chicago and having to do some repair work.  The wind last week did a number on the windshield on their flybridge.  It's always something.

I'm in the process of painting our front deck furniture. And, of course, it's more complicated than I orginally counted on.

Here's another reminder about the upcoming Pirate's Market, April 9 at 9am--lasting till noon.  It will be on the concrete are between the Ship's Store and Boat Works.  Come sell your stuff or just shop.  Boat Show is the same weekend.

Spring is here and the weather is increasingly boat worthy.

It took me a while to write anything this week.  We have a boat full of grandkids--spring break!  Enough said.  Not much happening around here this past week.  The winds have really been howling the past two days.  The warm temps have people washing boats and checking to make sure everything is in working order.  We still have all the winter cover on our boat but I don't think that is going to last longer.

Bob & Faye Simmons are hoping to have their boat back in the water soon.  It has been on the hard for a while having bottom repair work done and sealant.

See ya'll soon,

Beautiful, that's the best word to describe today.  Sunshine and temps in the 70s.  We didn't have any high water from all the rain we had last week.   St. Patrick's Day party Saturday, March 19--come one, come all.  Don't forget to put aside 'stuff' to sell at the Pirates Market April 9.

Have a safe trip to the boat,

It's windy, the sun is in and out and it's in the upper 50s.  The spud pole up by the gate is completely out of the water, so that tells us that the lake level is at winter pool.  The Corps must be expecting at lot of water from the rain that is expected Wednesday. We don't care 'cause it will be warm.  It's so nice to have the water back on.  Another sign of spring is Emory rolling up 600 feet of water hose.  The spring project of the week is cleaning up golf carts before we get them out of storage for the UltraRun on Saturday.

There wasn't too much activity on the pier this weekend.  The Peppers and Sandmans were here getting their boats ready for the upcoming season.

The wheelchair spot has been moved.  The Youngs are the ones currently using it.  Lucy has difficulty turning her neck and frequently had problems backing out of the old spot.  There probably will be a second W/C spot added as there is at least one other boater on the pier that uses one.

I keep forgetting to mention that Pier 5 now has lighted arches.  Their's are green and were turned on last month.  The marina is putting them up.  I haven't been around to the other covered piers to see if the other ones have been turned on yet.

I added a picture of the spud pole, if anyone is interested.  I know most of you are not here when it is visible and don't have a clue what I mean when I talk about it.

See you soon,
