The cruise club will kick off the boating season on April 25th with the blessing of the fleet. As the 2009 fleet Captain for the CYC cruise club I invite you to join the cruise club group page. We will use this page to keep everyone update with the cruise details. I hope you will join us for the blessing and later at the CYC beach.
Lets join together to make this a boating season full of friends, fun and memories.
R. David Rittenhouse
Fleet Captain

Sam, The town of Birmingham was leveled before Kentucky Lake was dammed up in the 1930's. The foundations remained however. Because Birmingham was on a hill, those foundations are about 3 feet below the surface when the lake is at winter pool (354 ft) Many boats have hit those foundations in the late summer when the TVA drops the lake from summer pool (359 ft) to winter pool. You can find Birmingham on your chart between Moors and the Rock Quarry in the secondary channel. That particular secondary channel is a real crooked winding and narrow channel. I would never attempt it at winter pool. It's very easy to stray out of the channel because it's so crooked, and damage your boat. Hope this helps. Kim Ketter

Sam, Welcome to the site! I see you've also joined the Cruise Club Group. Dave Rittenhouse is the Fleet Captain and has a lot of great trips planned for 2009. See you on the water.
