It is time for the CYC Annual Seafood Boil. This year this event will take place under the big tent on the Beach at Green Turtle Bay. August 20th is the Grand Rivers Marina Day and Green Turtle Bay will be celebrating. There is a great line up on stage this year with Animal Tales, the Illusion Show, a GTB Talent Show and the Rod Stewart Tribute Show then the ending with a huge fireworks display.
Volunteers are needed to fill 32- two hour slots to monitor the children's bouncers, waterslides, games, canoes and to Captain the River Rat. The two hour openings are from 11AM to 5PM. It's not a lot of work but it is a lot…

July 30th Saturday at !0:am the CYC will hold the finals for the 2011 Spring Sailing Series. All sailboats are welcome to assemble at the green buoy by the dam to begin a 5 mile staggered start sail around the buoys. Several boats are still in contention for series honors in single hand and overall categories. Green Turtle Bay Resort, Commonwealth Yacht Club and Grand Rivers are challenging the GTB Piers to raise money for the Center for Courageous Kids fo their Camp programs. The winning pier will be announced during the August 20th Grand Rivers Marina Day on the stage set up by Dockers Grille. How to raise the money is left up to the piers (be creative!). Green Turtle Bay and Commonwealth Yacht Club will be hosting a new event at the resort this weekend, the SUMMER KICK OFF! Come join your fellow dock and CYC friends for a fun get-together under the tent by Dockers Grille. We'll be servin' up some yummy appetizers and a light refreshing beverage. The CYC and Green Turtle Bay offer sailing on Sunfish Sail boat every Saturday and Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Nick is the only permanent staff member and he needs help every morning and evening getting the boats out and putting them up. If you can help, please go the beach at 8:30 am or 3:30 PM to help.
The boats are offered free of charge to all kids and is a great way to promote sailing on Kentucky Lake.

“Golf Handicaps” are helping 18 boats catch up to leaders in the CYC Spring Sailing Series. So far, more than half the sailors have had their starting time moved up from 2 to 4 minutes and at the same time past winners have to wait longer to start. After completing the loop in 2010 we wintered down at Fort Myers Beach, Snook Bight Marina for 2 months. Then back across the Gulf for another month at Orange Beach Marina in May 2011.
Soon we will head north again for the summer on the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers. Ah this is the life!…

Here is a new event this year where we can all have fun and turn some of our unused or unwanted boating equipment into a little cash. Go through your dock boxes and lockers and bring your surplus equipment to the CYC Pirate's Market on Saturday, April 9th from 9:00 am to 12:00 Noon. Price your items and sell them to your boating friends and neighbors. Who knows, you may find something they have you can't live without!
