CYC August NautiNews Article

We still have lots of summertime left to have “Fun in the Sun” in August.

Enjoy summertime, at Green Turtle Bay, Barkley and Kentucky Lakes where there’s simply no better time or place to be boating or enjoying land activities.   The season has been fantastic for so many of us with warm/hot temps and all the sun and fun we can handle.

There are loads of social events planned by Green Turtle Bay, Commonwealth Yacht Club and Grand Rivers scheduled for the next few months.

August 6 is the CYC Board Meeting from 8:30 – 9:30 at the Commonwealth Yacht Club.  If you have any event suggestions contact Commodore David Jernigan.

Get out of the heat and into the cool for an afternoon of socializing at the Commonwealth Yacht Club/CYC Board of Directors “Get Together” on August 6 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the Commonwealth Yacht Club.  Meet your CYC board officers and directors; enjoy complimentary appetizers and drinks and socializing with friends and neighbors.  This is a must attend mixer.  If you “snooze you lose” a special surprise for everyone who attends.  Then come back to the club at 6:00 to enjoy a delicious meal with entertainment by 37 Degrees North.

August 12 is the Commonwealth Yacht Clubs Party of the Decade.  Dress in any decade you loved the best.  37 Degrees North will entertain us for the evening

August 13 is Marina Day at Green Turtle Bay.  If you’re looking for a fun time, especially if you’re a kid or a kid at heart this is the place to be beginning at 12:00 noon and lasting until? The day’s activities end with a spectacular fireworks display at dusk. There are too many activities scheduled to put on paper but to mention a few;  stage shows all day, big bouncers, water sliding board, boat and kayak rides, vendors, (funnel cakes and fried twinkles, yum!! ) and much more.

Green Turtle Bay will host the Nina and Pinta from September 1-5.  Come and take a tour of these fantastic replicas docked near the Ships Store.

September 3 is the beginning of the Fall Sailing Race Series from 10:00am-12:00am.  Meet Rear Commodore Sharla Graham on Kentucky Lake.

Another fun time will be the Grand Rivers Arts and Craft Renaissance Faire on September 3 at Little Lake Park.  You will find something there for everyone that you just can’t live without, plus food vendors, did I mention funnel cakes, yum?

End your Saturday at the Commonwealth Yacht Club’s Labor Day Party with entertainment by Hot Sand 2.0.

The CYC Board of Directors meeting is September 10 from 8:30-9:30.

September 17 is the distance race for the Fall Sailing Series to Star Limeworks  on Kentucky Lake.

September 24 is Commonwealth Yacht Club’s Annual Seafood Boil from 5:00pm-7:00pm.  Enjoy delicious seafood, brat’s, corn on the cob and potatoes.  Unfortunately carry out’s will not be available, sit under the tent at Dockers’ parking lot and enjoy the great food.  Share your favorite dessert with everyone.
