CYC June NautiNews
What time is it? It’s Boat O’clock time. Yay, summer has arrived, sunshine warming our water and hearts.
The Commonwealth Yacht Club board and Green Turtle Bay marina have scheduled numerous fun events for everyone this summer.
Let’s review June events, starting with the CYC Board meeting at 8:30am. at the Commonwealth Yacht Club. June 4th is also a Spring Sailing Series race starting at 10:00am on Kentucky Lake. Meet Sharla Graham there to participate in the race.
CYC’s annual Poker Run is June 11. This is a land or water based event, no boat is necessary to participate. Adults and children are welcome. Contact Short Range Fleet Captain Sandra Jernigan to register or show up on the 11th at Ships Store parking lot to register beginning at 9:00am. Winners will be announced at the CYC Poker Run party at the Commonwealth Yacht Club following the day’s events. Entertainment by John Pinney, Jerry Koerner and friends.
Join Long Range Fleet Captain Danny Cope on our second annual cruise to Prizer Point marina on June 18th. Prizer Point marina is on Lake Barkley, mile marker 55, approximately 24 miles from GTB. Leave GTB in the morning and arrive at Prizer Point in the afternoon in time for Happy Hour and Dinner at the Pier restaurant. Dinner specials are from $10 - $19. There will be a flat fee of $35.00 per boat for transient docking for the night. Make your reservations NOW and by June 4th by contacting Danny Cope @ firstname.lastname@example.org or call 270-331-7636. Danny will need to know Captains name, boats name, length of boat, power requirements and boat type: Sail/Express/Fly bridge.
22 boats participated last year and everyone had a terrific time.
There is another Spring Sailing Series race of June 18th.
July starts off with the July 2nd Fourth of July bash at the Commonwealth Yacht Club. Enjoy dinner and dancing – entertainment by DJ Songbird.
CYC is sponsoring another cruising event on July 23rd. Look for specific details in the July NautiNews and check out flyers in pier dock pockets.
When you visit the Yacht Club be sure to check out the really neat 2015 Photo Album of CYC events put together by our historian, Suzy Pence. The album is located in the lobby.
Grand Rivers Tourism Commission and High Five Dragon Boat are presenting the inaugural Grand Rivers Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 9am to 4pm. Proceeds will benefit the Livingston County Helping Hands.
This will be a fun filled community event on Kentucky Lake at Lighthouse Landing. Everyone will enjoy music, vendors and friendly competition. To register a team of 20 rollers go to grandriversdragonboat.com.
