A place for members to find & share information about the happenings of the CYC
September Commonwealth Yacht Club Newsletter
Hey Water and Lake People, summer is not over. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac the Autumnal Equinox is September 22, 2016 at 10:21am EDT.
From then on temperatures begin to drop and the days start to get shorter than the nights. We all know even if the day’s gets shorter, we still have loads of time left to enjoy our outdoor activities. Actually, I enjoy the cooler days and nights of fall and especially fall foliage season.
I want to give everyone an update on the Grand Rivers Dragon Boat races which were held on July 18, 2016. It was a tremendous success. Team “Yachting Turtles” won first place in the Division C Championship under the leadership of Captain Brian Turner. The event raised $3108.00 for Livingston County Helping Hands. Total of 7 teams competed. I have to say team “Yachting Turtles” truly enjoyed the day especially the camaraderie and fun in the sun and water we had. Mark your calendars for the Dragon races in July 2017, plan to come cheer on your team and/or sign up to roll on a team. The Turtles will be even stronger in 2017!! Go Turtles!!
